CORONABOBS ISOLATION DAY 21 – Diary of a Self-Isolator 5.4.20

CORONABOBS ISOLATION DAY 21 – Diary of a Self-Isolator Sunday, 5.4.20

On a day that saw the Queen give the nation a stirring speech (* see below). The first time a British Monarch has done a special speech other than the Christmas broadcast since World War II. The speech was very well received.

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson taken into hospital due to the virus. This was just for precautionary measures not an emergency. He has had symptoms for 10 days and not getting better.

Scotland’s chief medical officer Catherine Calderwood has resigned after breaching the UK lockdown by visiting her second home. Dr Calderwood – who has been a leading voice in urging the public to obey the lockdown – was photographed by The Scottish Sun visiting her holiday home on the east coast of the country over the weekend. She has admitted it was the second time she had done so during the lockdown.

How can someone in such a senior responsible position be so stupid?

Phew, lets look at something lighter.

Joe Wicks has last laugh with ‘£1m book deal’ after coronavirus lockdown PE lessons

Fitness guru Joe Wicks is having the last laugh over pals who mocked his videos – as he’s set to land a £1million book deal.

Insiders say publishers are now desperate to cash in on the massive YouTube fame of the man dubbed Britain’s PE teacher.

Social media star Joe’s profile rocketed after millions of locked-down Brits joined in with his morning fitness sessions.

An industry source said: “Publishers know, with the huge success of being the nation’s PE teacher, he’s now a household name and they are desperate to tap him up to release his own range of children’s books in time for Christmas this year.

“He has become a very familiar face with thousands of kids and is to PE what Jamie Oliver was to school dinners. It’s gold to publishers and offers are already at £1million.”

Joe said: “When I first started filming myself, even my close mates were like, ‘what are you doing, why are you shouting at food and why are you talking to yourself, and why are you hanging out the window?’.

“But if I had taken their comments on board, I’d have had my confidence knocked and I wouldn’t have had the success I have. You have to ignore those things. I have got a very positive sentiment on my social media.”

Joe already has a deal with Harper Collins for his recipe books but, in the past week, he’s been approached by three other major publishers.

The 33-year-old from Surbiton, South West London, is estimated to be worth £14.5million.

Marianne Faithfull ‘stable in hospital’ after COVID-19 diagnosis

Marianne Faithfull is being treated for coronavirus in a London hospital

Marianne Faithfull is being treated for COVID-19 in hospital, her agent has said.

Francois Ravard said the singer songwriter, 73, is in a stable condition and is “responding to treatment” in a London hospital.

Mr Ravard said: “She is stable and responding to treatment, we all wish her well and a full and speedy recovery.”

Faithfull’s hits include As Tears Go By, which was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Her friend Penny Arcade (aka Susana Ventura) wrote on Facebook: “She has withstood and survived so much in her life – including being Marianne Faithfull – that to be taken down by a virus would be such a tragedy.”

Faithfull’s latest and 21st studio album was Negative Capability in 2018. She has also acted in theatre productions and films including Girl On A Motorcycle.

Find out what your quarantine theme song is – the Number 1 single on your 12th birthday

A post is being widely shared online that says your quarantine theme song is the Number 1 single on your 12th birthday. So what’s yours?

While we’re all in lockdown, many of us are turning to music to help us through these strange times.

Lots of us are streaming uplifting classics – including S Club 7’s Reach and Pharrell’s Happy – while others have sought humour in isolation-themed songs, such as R.E.M’s It’s The End Of The World As We Know It. Check out the UK’s Top 100 Official Lockdown Listening List here.

But what one song truly defines your time in quarantine? The answer, apparently, is what was the Number 1 single on your 12th birthday. The post is being widely shared online and it’s throwing up some, well, interesting options.

Mine is Wooden Heart by Elvis Presley and Mamma’s is The Carnival Is Over by The Seekers

…And finally, out of all that is going on and all the daily emotions I found an unusual thing so difficult tonight. Video conferencing with the family. Me and Mamma for some reason have been slow to master connecting the video software on phones and laptop and PC we have just struggled to get it to work.

We did last night, and I hated it and felt so uncomfortable as I have said in previous attempts. I hate how my face looks. It does not reflect how I feel inside. I hate my position and the camera position. But most of all with my deafness I cannot hear anything anyone says and therefore I cannot contribute. I end up sitting through it cabbage like.

Due to my hearing this happens in everyday normal life too. But there I can just blend in. The stressful thing in video links is that I just sit there watching this pathetic lump, me.

So, there is a brand-new objective for self-isolation, turn me into a video star. Where on earth do we start on that one?

The following is an extract of some of the rousing words the Queen used in her speech:

“While we have faced challenges before, this one is different. This time we join with all nations across the globe in a common endeavour, using the great advances of science and our instinctive compassion to heal. We will succeed – and that success will belong to every one of us.

We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again.” – Queen Elizabeth II

Often when you think you’re at the end of something, you’re at the beginning of something else.
