CORONABOBS ISOLATION DAY 38 – Diary of a Self-Isolator Wednesday 22nd April 2020

To me music helps enormously when it comes to self-isolation and lockdown. But it’s coming up with new but good playlists that is the hard work.

Last week PPL published the most played tracks on radio, TV and streaming during the last decade, the 2010s. Radio 2 broadcast a programme playing all 40.

The list of that 40 tracks makes a good Covid-19 Lockdown Playlist. After all they are on that playlist due to their popularity. Here is that list. Try them out.

And what was today all about then?

The controversy about PPE (protective clothing for health workers) keeps going on with claims that the government have not been on the ball. It is reported the EU said we could join them to order some and didn’t. There is all manner of stories where the government have missed opportunities to buy some. The difficulty is for someone like me who just wants to know what’s really going on. What is really true and what has been hyped up for political gain.

There is lots of controversy about testing too. They say there is a shortage of tests. But you see all these testing stations and no one there. Why? May be due to testing and PPE.

Germany seems to have managed the Covid-19 outbreak best in Europe. Australia and New Zealand have done excellently too. May be due to excellent testing and PPE.

I find it frightening how with one act or one statement you can destroy a lifetime of goodwill.

Richard Branson has always been considered a British Treasure in the business world. But over the last week he has suggested the government should bail out his hailing airline with taxpayers’ funds. And suddenly the world has turned on him suggesting he uses some of the billions of his personal finance.

A second planned holiday, this one in Robin Hood’s Bay, has now been cancelled.

Our two grandsons had a boys day with their dad today as mum had to go into school for a very busy day. I think the boys have to work harder under dad, they say he’s stricter. It’s a piece of cake with mum, literally. That’s what they do make cake.

My other two grandchildren naturally did a variety of subjects in home schooling. But they obviously spent a good deal of time putting many of their skills to good use making a Bedtime Story Video each. They had obviously put a lot of effort in. Both were brilliant.

Although the sun shined the wind was cold. But at least no rain.

Me and Mamma’s Day seemed to be a day busy doing nothing. In my case I was writing, writing, writing. Grandson George’s Blog was the main thing. And then researching. Next, I recorded my reading of “The Wonky Donkey” for the Bedtime Story Video. But I got carried away. Mamma said it was over the top and I had to re-record it.

Finally, to relax with a glass of wine (most unusual for us tea totallers, but that’s what lockdown does for you) and watch TV.

No comedy, no travel tonight. Just GPs behind closed doors. That makes a change.
