CORONABOBS ISOLATION DAY 58 – Diary of a Self-Isolator Tuesday 12th May 2020
The main issue today is that certain schools will open from 1st June. But many, including myself do not think it is wise.
The children they are looking at sending back are nursery, foundation and Year 6.
There will be no harm done in fact quite the reverse to wait, as Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are doing until the beginning of September as the earliest.
There are petitions being raised against it at the moment. Parents who do not agree with the opening will just not send their children to school, anyway. I do not think anyone will have any issue with that.
I just do not understand how you can monitor and keep safe and socially distance foundation children. The rule has been introduced that there can only be 15 children in a class. How can schools make that work?
YouGov, the government polling company asked the question, “Would you support schools returning before the summer holidays?”
Schools Returning: The government have outlined their ambition for all primary school children in England to return to school for a month before they break up for the summer holidays
This is something that isn’t supported by the public, however: by 50% to 35% they are in opposition to it.
It is obviously another ill thought out plan. Fortunately, the government do make u turns if they can be convinced, they have got it wrong. Let’s hope they see sense on this one. If not, parents can step in and carry out the correct procedure in their eyes.
One thing with Covid-19 is that life continues on as usual. Even though A&E department’s other work is down 50% illnesses are still unfortunately happening as we have found, sadly, in our family. The government have not been able to decree, unfortunately, you can have no other illness until after lockdown.
We did a 3.5 mile walk today. A winter walk, boy it was cold. Where has the sun gone?
I spent the day putting together and sending off to my four grandchildren Issue 9 of their Coronabobs Times, to keep me and Mamma in touch with them.
