 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Couple married for 91 years and still in love

Me and Mamma are big believers in marriage. We feel it is the basis of a good solid family life.

The reason for this is because we both come from parents whose marriages broke up when we were young.

We suffered the horrendous consequences over a good many years brought about by the break ups. The poverty, the anxiety, the hated and the missing out of so much of life and the good things of life. Things that continue to affect you as an adult.

I assure you it is horrendous. Something I would not wish on any child or couple.

Consequently, we rejoice in long happy marriages. It takes hard work and careful, skilful handling of your relationship to pull it off.

The longest marriages seemed to be about 90 years. But I recently learned of this one of 91 years. Check it out.

I so admire this couple for all they have achieved in their tough life.

Zechariah and Shama’a have been married for 91 years. As Jewish orphans in Yemen, they married young to avoid being wed outside of their faith and culture. They survived extreme poverty and persecution and were some of the first Yemeni Jews to move to Israel when the state was founded.

They married when they were 10 and 12 years old and have 11 children and 64 grandchildren.

HAPPINESS IS…

Happiness is…a happy marriage and that affects all the family.

I asked 10 people what LGTBQ stands for… Couldn’t get a straight answer!

LOVE IS…

Love is…the base for a long happy marriage.

TURN…TURN…TURN!

A time to celebrate being married…A time to celebrate being married for a long time.
