George Aged 4 – Countdown to Christmas Blog – 13 sleeps to Christmas.
Hi, George here. I ‘m still in the process of Driving home for Christmas, are you?
There are so many great things I love about Christmas and a big one is books and stories. Christmas is one big book and story. Well, two really, I suppose: the Jesus one and the Santa one.
Today I thought I would tell you about some of the best books and highlight ones I am enjoying. For no reason other than I get so much enjoyment out of books at Christmas and they help make the time pass more quickly to Christmas Day.
One of the beautiful things about the lead up to Christmas is the Advent Christmas Bedtime Story. Each night when we go to bed Mum or Dad read me and Sister Freya a Christmassy story. It is so warm, cosy, cuddly and satisfying to know you are about to cross off one more sleep before Christmas, getting us even closer to the Big Day!
The book Mum or Dad are reading to us at the moment is The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch by Tom Fletcher. And it is brilliant.
Who is Tom Fletcher? I hear you ask. Or if you didn’t you should have done.
After writing songs with his band McFly for several years, Tom Fletcher turned his hand to writing stories. He is one half of the duo behind the bestselling Dinosaur That Pooped series. The Christmasaurus is Tom’s first novel for young readers and combines his love of Christmas and dinosaurs.
He is also married to Giovanna Fletcher, of I’m A Celebrity fame says Grandad. But that goes straight over my head, whoosh! It does not mean a thing to me.
I love Christmas and I love dinosaurs like Tom Fletcher. This book is perfect for me even though I am only 4½ years old and the book is intended for 7 year old children. But I think that is just an indication of reading ability, not story content level. What it does do is encourages me to work on my reading abilities so that I can read this book for myself.
I was first introduced to Tom Fletcher with the picture book ‘The Dinosaur Who Pooped Christmas’ by him. That was so good and funny. And then last year Mum and Dad read The Christmasaurus and this year they are reading Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch.
As a parting shot I thought I would give you a Christmas Book Advent Calendar. One Children’s Christmas book for each day of Advent:

The only problem with Christmas books is that there are so many of them and so little time, just 24 days, to read them. And now I have to say you only have 13 days. So, what are you waiting for? Start reading!!!
But be careful don’t read whilst driving home for Christmas unless like me you are not the driver.
See you tomorrow.
