Today we celebrate 6 months of Lockdown. And we celebrate the fact  that there are 93 days until Christmas.

And John Lewis says these are going to the top 10 toys of Christmas 2020

John Lewis partners reveals the top Christmas toys for 2020

Christmas is still months away, but John Lewis has already rounded-up the toys that kids will be hoping to find under the tree this year. Some of the key themes for this year include sustainability, climate change and educational games.

“This year is driven by the importance of learning through play and enhancing communication skills through interaction with toys as children have adapted to playing in smaller groups and with siblings,” the team at John Lewis says.

“We have already seen a 106% increase in sales of electronic toys this year and are introducing Botley 2.0, Brio Smart Tech Sound and VTech Feathers and Feelings Peacock in time for Christmas. All are expected to be among sought-after gifts this season as parents look for different ways to keep children entertained whilst also learning new skills and tools.”

Take a look at the top 10 toys below…

1              Micro Recycled Scooter, £129.95

At the top of this list is this recycled scooter, which has been made out of recycled fishing nets.

“We’re extremely excited to launch the Micro Eco Scooter, made out of recycled fishing nets. We have seen incredible demand for outdoor games during lockdown and believe this trend will continue through to next year,” Rachael Larkman, Partner & Toy Buyer, says.

2              Brio Smart Tech Sound, £149.99

We’re certain kids will have hours of fun building this railway track over the Christmas holidays.

3              Botley 2.0, £85

“This year has been incredibly different for all of us and we’ve seen a change in the way parents have been purchasing toys for their children,” Rachel adds.

“They’re thinking of ways that will help their children further their learning through play. That’s why we believe the Botley 2.0 (that teaches children to code) will be a popular choice.”

8              LEGO Gingerbread House, £84.99

“The trend for construction toys such as Lego hasn’t slowed down either this year (61% increase compared to last year) as Lego noted that 50% of their shoppers bought sets to ‘build together’ with their children during lockdown and we predict this trend to continue into the new year.”

9              Wooden Walker, £45

Teach toddlers to walk independently with this wooden walker. As well as improving skills like balance and coordination, the wooden blocks will help them to learn, too.

“Another lockdown trend to come through is board games (52%) with a focus on the more nostalgic game of Monopoly (the second most popular board game in lockdown) as parents reminisce on their childhoods.”
