MRS NOAH GIFTS FOWEY CORNWALL
jeanniejeanniejeannie.co.uk BLOG 23rd August 2019
Fowey in Cornwall is a magical place and the root of that magic is Mrs Noah Gifts
Our August Family Summer Holiday was spent in Cornwall. The mainstay was at Padstow. But the last couple of nights Mamma and myself spent at Fowey, a scenic small port at the mouth of the River Fowey.
Fowey is home to a beautiful shop full of magical things to buy named Mrs Noah’s Gifts. It is full of the best and most original toys, fairies, books, novelties, gifts and greeting cards you can think of. It does rate as one of the best gift shops I have visited. I have seen a few to say the least and worked for a gift shop retailer in the 1970s and 1980s.
An excellent Gift Shop is not just about the gifts it has on sale but it’s all about the atmosphere of the shop and how fantastic an experience the shopper gains from it.
This shop is housed in a very old building, it stands next to a building claiming to be the oldest in Fowey. Consequently when you go into the shop you explore little rooms filled with nooks and crannies and mysteries all revealing something new and exciting, in toys, books and gifts. It is a joy to explore.
I was taken aback by the number of fairies on the shelves and dangling from every available point. No wonder the shop is so magical. The fairies had even taken over the shop window.
I was always told fairies lived at the bottom of our garden, but I now believe they live in the Mrs Noah Gift Shop at Fowey, Cornwall.
I have mentioned many times in my Blog how greeting cards have gone downhill. A greeting card should be an individual, special piece of art in its own right. The way they were in their heyday of the 1970s and 1980s. Such cards are difficult to find any more but they are alive and kicking at Mrs Noah Gifts.
There is a tremendous range of greeting cards by Moongazer Cards by artist Sally Anne Lambert. The two cards I purchased had short poems on the back by Maureen Lambert, truly keeping the greeting card as an individual piece of art.

I have been in the shop many times before on previous visits to Fowey but never met the proprietor as I did this time. Mrs Noah? No, Grace Ismail. And on speaking to her you understand why the shop is as good as it is.
To create such a shop you have to have a passion for the products you are stocking and selling. It is most evident Grace Ismail has that.
If you are in Fowey, Mrs Noah Gifts, 27-29 Fore Street, Fowey, PL23 1AH is certainly worth making a beeline for. In fact, if you are not in Fowey, it is worth making a special journey to it.
And whilst you are there sample the delicious fudge from Roly’s Fudge 21 Fore St. And eat at Sam’s restaurant and cocktail bar 20 Fore Street.
