PICTURE OF THE WEEK 29th September 2019
“A picture is worth a thousand words”.
I love pictures and I love words. I “see” what they mean about pictures, but as a writer I find a picture inspires a thousand plus words, too. And a word inspires 1,000 pictures.
This is our “Picture of the Week” but what words does it inspire.
Take a look at today’s picture and consider what 1,000 words it inspire in you?
A train from Granville to Paris with failed brakes shot through the buffers, across the concourse and out onto the street at the terminus now known as Gare Montparnasse in 1885. Only one person was killed, a woman on the roadway.
Can you imagine being on that train, driving that train, hearing that accident. Think of the poor woman outside the station who lost her life. Think through the emergency people and those who had to set about clearing up the damage. There are so many angles captured in one photograph
Pictures do inspire.
The photograph is in the book ‘The Paper Time Machine: Colouring the Past Hardcover – by Wolfgang Wild (Author), Jordan Lloyd (Author) which includes many incredible and unusual photographs.
