PICTURE OF THE WEEK

“A picture is worth a thousand words”.

I love pictures and I love words. I “see” what they mean about pictures though, but as a writer I find a picture inspires a thousand plus some, too. And a word inspires 1,000 pictures.

Take a look at the picture and consider what 1,000 words it inspires in you?

Storm Ciara has torn the blades off the top of the historic Burgh Le Marsh, Lincolnshire windmill.

Police closed off the High Street due to concerns the sails were spinning too quickly as 70mph winds swept through Lincolnshire on Sunday 9th February 2020.

Local residents were evacuated and, at around 11.30am the blades at the top of the windmill were blown off and smashed to the ground.

A member of staff there told Lincolnshire Live: “The windmill sails were going the wrong way, just spinning round really fast.

“Houses were evacuated and we were told to close.

“Everybody is safe here.”

Residents have reported online that bits of the windmill have landed in their gardens.

Local resident Angela Deacon said: “It is incredibly sad – I look outside now and all I can see now is a stump.

“It’s heart-breaking to see. It’s landed at the back of the tearoom and no one appears to be hurt.”
