THE PASSIONS OF DJ STEVE VIMTO

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

My nephew Steve has two passions in life. One is his fiancée soon to be wife Lucy, and who can blame him.

The other passion he has had much longer than he has known Lucy, it is his passion for music.

He does have a third passion which is for football, but we won’t talk about that.

Steve has been passionate about music for as long as I have known him and I have known him since the day he was born, all those years ago.

As DJ Vimto he has been involved with every aspect of the music industry. He was in school musicals, wrote and performed raps, worked for many years for a record shop, produced and mixed chart single tracks, and has been in a bands making a record that just sat outside the Top 40. He has even played Glastinbury and featured on Radio One.

His mainstay contribution to music and his passion has been as a DJ and mixer of music and tracks. From an early age in his teens he has consistently played music to Nottingham’s students and pub and club goers.

He has the accolade of being included in the Wikipedia’s entry about Toca’s Miracle:

“In 2000, British DJ Vimto had the idea of taking the 1995 sound recording of Coco’s a cappella vocals from the song “I Need a Miracle” and mixing it with the music of Fragma’s “Toca Me”. By amalgamating the titles, it became “Toca’s Miracle”. He pressed an illegal bootleg which earned considerable attention from leading DJs. At the time, Fragma were signed to Positiva Records, so a release was made. “I Need a Miracle” was originally released by Greenlight Recordings in 1996 and re-recorded for EMI/Positiva in 1997. It is noted that Coco was never a member of Fragma.”

And now his latest achievement: he has a radio show on Trax FM Radio, that is internet radio, www.traxfm.org on Thursdays:

5PM – 7PM – Steve Vimto’s Eclectic Sessions (Live)

The Trax FM Blog announced:

“Steve Vimto’s Eclectic Sessions every Thursday from 5PM UK time is a must listen. Yes you get the RnB, yes you get the dance classics, but listen out for the odd, not the norm too. Vimto’s show can range from RnB to Indie. It’s that different.”

Well done, Steve, congratulations, brilliant music! I think it’s great that you’ve stuck with your passion.

I’m proud you’re my nephew. I’m proud you have such deep rooted passions, that’s what life is all about.

GRANDAD’S ONE LINER JOKE OF THE DAY

The worst job I ever had was as a forensicologist for the United Nations. One time I thought I’d come across the mass grave of a thousand snowmen, but it turns out it was just a field of carrots. – Milton Jones
