WHAT’S IN THE MOVIES IN 2018

 R U JOKING, GRANDAD BLOG 22nd November 2017

I spotted this interesting item on Brobible.com:

20 Movies Coming Out in 2018 That You Should Know About

  1. Peter Rabbit

Release Date:  March 23rd

A Look Ahead: The incredibly popular children’s book is finally get a well deserved shot at the big time in 2018 when Sony Pictures will release the animated tale of Peter Rabbit and his family and for those of you who have read the books, the McGregors will also star.

  1. Fifty Shades Freed

Release Date: February 9th

Cast: Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Rita Ora, Luke Grimes, Arielle Kebbel

The second film is scheduled to come out in 2017. This is the third and final film in the erotic book series turned into a film franchise. This movie will follow the happy couple throughout life as a married couple following their wedding in the 2nd movie. (Like we said, Spoiler Alert!)

  1. Jungle Book

Release Date: October 19th

Cast: Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Andy Serkis (Voice of Baloo)

No, this isn’t the Jon Favreau directed version, that comes out this year. This is a different version of the same tale about Mowgli and his best friend Baloo. This one is directed by Andy Serkis and sounds like it could be the best one yet. The cast alone is nearly perfect in every which way.

  1. Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them 2

Release Date: November 16th

A Look Ahead: J.K. Rowling did more than create the Harry Potter series, she created an entire universe full of stories. The first movie is set to come out in 2016 and is based off the book series of the same name.

  1. Pacific Rim 2

Release Date: TBA, 2018

After rumors of Guillermo del Toro not returning to direct the sequel, it was finally announced in February that Steven DeKnight will direct. It will be the first time he has taken on a motion picture. He is best known for Netflix’s Daredevil and Spartacus.

  1. The Predator

Release Date: March 2nd

Although it retains the same title as the original, The Predator is going to be a sequel to the original 1987 film. Iron Man 3 director Shane Black has been hired to direct and co-write the epic sequel. He also wrote the Lethal Weapon movies, The Last Boy Scout, and The Nice Guys.

  1. T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents

Release Date: TBD, 2018

What are T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents you ask? Besides being one of the more obscure comics that have bounced around from publisher to publisher until finally landing with IDW, it is also a great story that has been untouched on the big screen. It is like having the Avengers and The Justice League combine to form one ultimate unit. It is being produced by Michael Uslan, of the entire Batman film franchise since 1992.

  1. Ant-Man and the Wasp

Release Date:  July 6th

Cast: Paul Rudd

The title isn’t as catchy as Ant-Man 2 but it will do for the sequel to the surprisingly good Ant-Man movie from 2015. Peyton Reed returns to direct the second Marvel film in the Ant-Man franchise.

  1. The Lego Movie Sequel

Release Date: May 18th

The title isn’t the official one but it will have to do for now as there is very little information available about the sequel to one of the most shockingly good movies of 2014, The Lego Movie.

  1. Blade Runner 2

Release Date: January 12th

Cast: Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista

Is it possible to film a movie sequel 36 years after the original and still reach the same level of success? The story is still being created but from what they have said so far, it takes place several decades after the original movie ended with Harrison Ford returning to reprise his role as Rick Deckard.

  1. Untitled Transformers Bumblebee film

Release Date: June 8th

The Transformers franchise isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. However, the most popular character from the films, Bumblebee, had to wait four films before finally having his own spin-off.

  1. The Flash

Release Date: March 16th

Cast: Ezra Miller

The first movie in the DC Comic Universe was Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. For some reason, DC just can’t seem to figure out how to match the same level of success as Marvel has with their own MCU, Marvel Cinematic Universe. Luckily for Warner-Bros, they hired the right director to take on this film, Seth Grahame-Smith. He is best known for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Dark Shadows. Both movies were vastly underrated.

  1. Avatar 3

Release Date: December

Cast: Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver

James Cameron has taken on some of the biggest movies in cinema history including Terminator 2: Judgement Day and Titanic. He is now undertaking the massive task of filming three sequels all at once and to be released in consecutive years beginning in 2017. Good luck finding out about the story as he has been very secretive about the scripts of all three movies.

  1. Ready Player One

Release Date: March 30th

Cast: Olivia Cooke, Simon Pegg, Tye Sheridan, Ben Mendelsohn

Steven Spielberg returns to direct a film that will be one of the best in 2018, Ready Player One. The film adaptation of the novel of the same name is about an outcast teenager named Wade Watts and his adventures in a virtual world called OASIS.

  1. Jurassic World 2

Release Date: June 22nd

Cast: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard

This story is a continuation of the previous film of the same name. There isn’t much information yet and they haven’t named a director either. The only thing we do know is that it will take place after the ending of the last one.

  1. Aquaman

Release Date: July 27th

Cast: Jason Momoa

At first, no one cared to see a movie about a man who is the Superman of the ocean. But after they announced Jason Momoa as Aquaman, things began to change. He just might legitimize a character that no one really knows a lot about yet.

Toy Story 4
  1. Toy Story 4

Release Date: June 15th

Cast: Tim Allen, Tom Hanks, Kristen Schaal

After the third Toy Story film ended, fans were left with the closure they needed for the franchise that began in 1994. However, Disney being Disney, they have decided to bring it back for another story. This time it is going to be about Bo Peep going missing and the gang of toys finding her to bring her home.

  1. Black Panther

Release Date: February 16th

Cast: Chadwick Boseman, Andy Serkis

After Captain America: Civil War comes out and audiences get to finally see the Black Panther, we guarantee you that this will become the most anticipated film across the board. The comic book readers already know how amazing Black Panther’s story is so it is only a matter of time before the rest of the non-comic book readers get on board.

  1. Star Wars: Han Solo Anthology Story

Release Date: May 25th

Since this is a Star Wars movie, it will be nearly impossible to find out any details unless you are one of the persons writing the movie. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are set to direct the epic story of the most beloved character from the Star Wars Universe, Han Solo. It is a little early to judge the casting of these two guys but they are the same ones responsible for 21 & 22 Jump Street movies, The Lego Movie, and the hit TV show The Last Man on Earth.

  1. Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1

Release Date: May 4th

Cast: Josh Brolin will play Thanos, the rest of the cast hasn’t been announced yet

Although the cast has not been announced, it is safe to assume this movie will feature the same big name characters from the Marvel movies we have already seen. The directors just recently came out and said that the two part movie series is going to feature 67 characters, a gigantic number for any two films to tackle.

Toy Story 4
